Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the RankFathom browser extension and the rankfathom.com website (together, the "Service"), operated by RankFathom ("we", "us", "our"). By installing the extension, creating an account, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

RankFathom is a Chrome and Edge browser extension that looks up where a domain ranks on Google for a given keyword, using real search-ranking data (not DOM scraping of the page you're viewing). Free accounts get a limited number of checks per day at depth 10; paid plans (Pro, Team) unlock checks past position #10 up to #100, region/language selection, batch checks, saved history, and CSV export. Exact plan limits and pricing are shown at checkout and in the extension itself, and may change from time to time (see Section 8).

2. Accounts

You sign in with a magic-link code sent to your email address. You're responsible for keeping access to that email address secure — anyone with access to your email can access your RankFathom account.
You must provide an email address you actually own and control. Creating multiple free accounts to bypass usage limits is a violation of these Terms and may result in account suspension.
You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account.

3. Subscriptions, billing, and Creem as Merchant of Record

Paid plans (Pro, Team) are billed on a recurring monthly basis. Pricing is shown at checkout before you pay.
Payments for RankFathom are processed by Creem, who acts as the Merchant of Record for all purchases. This means your transaction is with Creem, not directly with RankFathom — Creem handles payment processing, tax collection/remittance where applicable, and appears as the billing descriptor on your card statement. Creem's own Terms of Service and Buyer Terms govern the payment transaction itself; these RankFathom Terms govern your use of the product.
We never see or store your card number or other payment details — Creem collects and processes that information directly (see our Privacy Policy, Section 2.4).
You can cancel a subscription at any time through the manage-subscription link in the payment receipt email Creem sends you, or by contacting us; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep paid-tier access until then. We don't currently offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by law or at our discretion for genuine service issues — contact privacy@rankfathom.com if something went wrong.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the Service to violate Google's Terms of Service or attempt to circumvent search-engine rate limits/anti-abuse measures through means other than RankFathom's own interface.
Attempt to extract, resell, or redistribute raw search-results data through the Service — as explained in our Privacy Policy, RankFathom itself never stores or exposes full SERP listings (competitor domains/titles/URLs), only the ranking position you asked about, and this restriction applies to your use of the product too.
Use automated means (scripts, bots) to interact with RankFathom's backend API outside of the extension itself, or to exceed your plan's rate limits.
Share a paid account's login across an organization larger than what that plan's seat count covers (Team plan pricing is per seat for a reason).
Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that could disable, overburden, or impair it for other users.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

5. Intellectual property

RankFathom, its logo, and its extension code are our property (or licensed to us). The ranking data we return to you is derived from third-party search-data providers; we don't claim ownership of underlying search-engine data, and this Service doesn't grant you any rights to that data beyond using it within RankFathom's own interface for your own SEO purposes.

6. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is." Search-ranking positions can shift constantly and are reported based on the most recent data available to us — we don't guarantee real-time accuracy, and rankings shown may differ slightly from what you see in a live, personalized Google search (location, search history, and Google's own experimentation all affect individual results).
We're not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google. "Google" and "Google Search" are trademarks of Google LLC.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RankFathom is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including business decisions made based on ranking data we provide. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or $0 if you're on the free plan).

8. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for active paid subscribers, notify you by email — consistent with how we handle material changes to our Privacy Policy. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

9. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see Privacy Policy Section 6). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate Section 4, or discontinue the Service entirely with reasonable notice to active paid subscribers.
